Kaitlyn Ruhf joined the UNC field hockey staff in July of 2014. Ruhf, a goalkeeper during her four years as a student-athlete at Wake Forest and an assistant coach at Davidson last season, works primarily with Carolina's defense and keepers.
"I'm delighted to have Kaitlyn join our staff," Shelton said. "She's a bright young coach who is very disciplined, organized and passionate about the game. She's going to be an outstanding addition to the Carolina Field Hockey family."
Ruhf , a 2012 Wake Forest graduate with a bachelor's degree in English, was the Demon Deacons' starter at goalkeeper all four years in the program. She was named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team in her junior and senior years and was named to the All-ACC Tournament team as a junior in 2011.
Ruhf (pronounced like "roof") spent the 2013 season as an assistant coach at Davidson College, working with the Wildcats' goalkeeping and defense. She has also gained experience from working camps, coaching in the Futures and Champions' Edge programs and working with youth programs in Winston-Salem.
A native of Bethlehem, Pa., she played at Freedom High School and for the U.S. Under-16 team, representing the nation in competition in Canada and the Netherlands.
