2024-25: Wrestled at 133 pounds during third season in Chapel Hill • Wrestled for the Tar Heels at the Southeast Open (11/2)
2023-24: Competed at 133 pounds during redshirt-freshman season • Saw action at the Southeast Open (11/4) • Earned a first period fall at the Mountaineer Invitational (11/11) • Made first collegiate dual start and ACC dual debut against Duke (2/23) • Named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll
2022-23: Competed at 133 pounds during true freshman campaign • Won five matches during the year • Competed in four tournaments throughout the season • Made collegiate debut for the Tar Heels at the Southeast Open (11/5) • Added two pins and a decision at the Life U Open (11/19) • Secured a win each at the F&M Open (1/6) and Appalachian State Open (1/28)
Personal/Prep: Max Martin is the son of Steve and Lori Martin • Dad Steve was an All-American wrestler at Iowa • Dad was also the head coach of the wrestling team at Old Dominion University before the program was disbanded in the spring of 2020 • Attended Great Bridge High School in Chesapeake, Virginia • Coached by Matthew Small • Three-time VHSL state placer • State runner up his freshman • State champion as a sophomore • Three-time team captain • Won two team state titles at Great Bridge • Finished his high school career with a 112-22 career record
