Head Coach Mike Schall hired Carson Overbeck as a graduate assistant for the Carolina volleyball program in April of 2025.
Overbeck appeared in 70 matches for the Tar Heels between 2022-2024 as a libero/defensive specialist. She was a two-time All-ACC Academic Team member.
"Throughout Carson's playing career, we have discussed her desire to become a coach,” head coach Schall said. “We are proud that she is starting her journey as a grad assistant at a place that means so much to her. Every team Carson is part of is better because of who she is as a person and leader."
Her mother, Carla, is currently an assistant coach for the Duke women's soccer team. She was an All-American soccer player at UNC from 1986-89 and the captain of the 1996 U.S. Olympic Team that won the gold medal.
