2014-15: Had a season-best throw of 221-7 (67.55 meters) at the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships where he finished fifth overall • Competed in the javelin at the NCAA Preliminary Round • Finished fifth or better in four of the six competitions he competed in • Voted Student Body President • All-ACC Academic Outdoor Team • USTFCCCA All-Academic Team and named to the ACC Honor Roll
2013-14: Threw a season-best 216-8 (66.04 meters) at the Joe Hilton Invitational • Earned All-ACC for placing second in the javelin at the ACC Outdoor Championships on his last throw of the event • Did not compete during the indoor season • Named to All-ACC Academic Team • Named to Capital One Division I Academic All-District track and field/cross country team • Named to the ACC-Academic Honor Roll • Named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team.
2012-2013: NCAA First Round Qualifier in the javelin • Made it into the finals at the NCAA East Regional • Threw a personal best in the javelin at the Virginia Challenge, reaching a distance of 222-5 (67.97 meters) to qualify him for the NCAA East Preliminary • Scored at the ACC Outdoor Championships • Had never thrown a javelin until the fall of 2012 • Did not compete during the indoor season • Named to the Dean’s List for both semesters • Named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll • Earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
Prep: Was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2005 in the 47th round of the MLB June Amateur Draft • Was the youngest American-born drafted player in organization history • Played through the minor league system before being called up to Major League Baseball by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2010 • Pitcher for four seasons and a catcher for two in the minors • Was called up to the Cardinals but did not appear in an MLB game • Was the starting catcher for his high school baseball team all four years in addition to acting as a relief pitcher • Also wrestled for one year in high school • Was the North Carolina Scholastic Athlete of the Year in 2005 • A member of the National Honors Society • Acted as a student body representative • Worked with the charity Unlimited Potential, Inc., an organization that uses baseball camps and bible study to help communities worldwide.
