Plethora Of Tar Heels Earn CSC At-Large Academic All-District Honors

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The College Sports Communicators organization annually recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their performances in competition and in the classroom.
In the at-large division consisting of men's and women's fencing, field hockey, men's and women's golf, gymnastics, men's and women's lacrosse and wrestling, Carolina totaled eight student-athletes earning Academic All-District team recognition.

Academic All-District honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.
A business administration student, Barton appeared in all 15 games for the Tar Heels this past season and recorded 25 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. Earning Academic All-District honors for the second-straight year, Barton was named a Carolina Top-Ten Scholar-Athlete this spring.
An integral part in field hockey's Final Four run, Brüning finished the year tied for fifth in points on the Tar Heels, and logged a career-high in goals and assists with five apiece. The rising senior is majoring in business administration and economics.
In his second season at Carolina, Gyrue finished seventh overall at the ACC Fencing Championships in epee. At the 2025 NCAA Championships, the environmental sciences major placed 19th in men's epee.
Wrapping her career as the NCAA's all-time leader in assists, Humphrey started in all 22 games for the 2025 women's lacrosse national champions, shattering numerous Carolina and NCAA records. Earning her master's degree in applied professional studies, Humphrey helped the Tar Heels claim the fourth national championship in program history last month.Â
Competing at the 2025 ACC Fencing Championships in foil, Kettelle capped off her season with multiple wins against ranked opponents including over No. 4 Princeton at the Philadelphia Invitational. In the classroom, the Tucson, Ariz., native is studying exercise science.
Coming off of a strong season on the water, Sagues earned Second Team All-ACC honors as a key member of the varsity eight boat. The biomedical engineering major assisted UNC to a first place finish the petite final in the V8 boat at the ACC Championships.
Appearing in all 10 tournaments for women's golf, Streicher's scoring average of 72.10 marked the second-best in a season in UNC history. The two-time All-ACC member and rising senior is currently majoring in exercise and sport science and sport administration with minors in studio art and data science.
Another 2025 national champion with women's lacrosse, Traggio started in all 22 games for Carolina this spring. The junior collected 19 caused turnovers and 34 ground balls for the Tar Heels, while excelling in the classroom as a media and journalism major.Â
