AT CAROLINA
Has averaged 14.1 points and 9.4 rebounds per game in his first two seasons • Has played in 40 games and made 39 starts • Missed 24 of 35 games as a freshman due to a fracture in his left foot, but played in all but one game as a sophomore • Game missed was not due to the previous injury, but was because of a left ankle sprain • Became the first sophomore to lead the ACC in rebounding in 10 years • Has scored in double figures in 30 games with at least 20 points seven times • Career scoring high of 28 vs. Georgia Tech on Jan. 11, 2004 • Grabbed 10 or more rebounds 18 times with a high of 21 on two occasions • Has 15 career double-doubles in points and rebounds • Has the second-most double-doubles among active ACC players (Duke's Shelden Williams has 17) • Has led the Tar Heels in scoring 10 times and in rebounding 24 times • One of 12 players selected to play for the Team USA Basketball 20-and-Under squad that won the gold medal at the 2004 FIBA Americas World Championship For Young Men Qualifying Tournament in Halifax, Canada.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2003-04)
Second-team All-ACC and second-team All-America (ESPN.com) selection • Led the ACC in rebounding at 9.8 per game • First sophomore to lead the ACC in rebounding since Wake Forest's Tim Duncan in 1995 • First Tar Heel to lead the ACC in rebounding since Antawn Jamison in 1998 • Joins Pete Brennan (1958), Billy Cunningham (1963-64-65), Mitch Kupchak (1976), Brad Daugherty (1985) and Jamison as UNC players to lead the ACC in rebounding • Earned honorable mention All-America honors from the Associated Press • Also a second-team all-district pick by the coaches and media • Twice won ACC Player of the Week honors.
Also led the ACC in offensive rebounds (3.45 per game) and defensive rebounds (6.38), was sixth in field goal percentage (.463) and blocked shots (1.24) and seventh in scoring (15.2) • Had 21 rebounds twice - no other player in the ACC had more than 18 in a game • Had three of the top seven single-game rebound totals among ACC players - no other player had more than one of the top seven • Only three players in Carolina history have grabbed more rebounds in a game (Rusty Clark, Cunningham and Lennie Rosenbluth) • 21 rebounds vs. Duke on Feb. 5, 2004, tied the record for most rebounds versus Duke by a Tar Heel (Bobby Jones, Jan. 20, 1973) • Had a season-high 10 offensive rebounds against Akron and eight at home versus Duke.

Began the season with 17 points, seven rebounds and three blocks against Old Dominion in his first game at the Smith Center since injuring his foot as a freshman • Went 9 for 11 from the free throw en route to 19 points against Davidson • That was one of five times during the season that he went to the line at least 10 times • Had 19 points, a then-career-high, 13 boards and three assists in win at Cleveland State • Set then-career highs with 23 points, 14 rebounds and four assists against Illinois and went 9 for 10 from the free throw line • Made 10 of 12 shots from the floor and posted his second straight career scoring high with 26 points against George Mason • Named ACC, ESPN.com and FoxSports.com Player of the Week after outstanding efforts against Illinois and George Mason • Set a Smith Center record with 21 rebounds (including 10 offensive boards) against Akron • The 21 boards marked the first time that a Tar Heel had 20 or more rebounds in a game since Serge Zwikker had 20 vs. Southern California on Dec. 6, 1996, and was the first time a Tar Heel had 21 since Mitch Kupchak vs. Tulane on Feb. 14, 1976 • Sprained his left ankle in the opening moments of the Dec. 28 game against UNC Wilmington • Returned to play 12 scoreless minutes in that game but was pulled out of action two minutes into the second half • Did not dress out two days later for the Coastal Carolina game • Made a career-high 11 field goals against Miami and finished with 23 points, 16 rebounds, two blocks and three steals in the 25-point victory • Netted a career-high 28 points in the 103-88 victory over 8th-ranked Georgia Tech • Added eight rebounds, four assists, two steals and no turnovers in that win over the Jackets • Scored 16 of his 28 points in the second half • Named ACC Player of the Week following performances against Miami and Georgia Tech • Had 11 rebounds in the win over No. 1 UConn • Had back-to-back double-doubles against Duke and Wake Forest in early February • Scored 15 points and pulled down 21 boards in the overtime home loss to the Blue Devils, then had 18 and 10 in the road win at Wake Forest • Scored 13 of his 18 points in the second half • Had 14 points and 12 rebounds in the win over Maryland • Had 20 points and nine rebounds at Virginia, his first 20-point outing in 12 games • Played well in the loss at Duke as he totaled 14 points, 15 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a season-high four steals • Led all scorers with 27 points against Georgia Tech in the ACC Tournament • Led UNC with 14 points in the NCAA first round win over Air Force • Limited to 25 minutes of action due to foul trouble, but finished with 11 points and nine boards in the NCAA loss to Texas • Had no fouls in the opening half, but picked three in the first four minutes of the second half.
FRESHMAN SEASON (2002-03)
Averaged 11.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per game • Prior to injuring his foot in practice after the Kentucky game he was averaging 15.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game and was leading the team in steals with 17 • Had 10 or more rebounds in five games and scored in double figures in six of the first seven games.
Had 17 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks and four steals vs. Penn State • Had 19 points, 10 boards, two blocks and two steals vs. Rutgers • Was one of three freshmen starters, the first time in UNC history the Tar Heels started three freshmen • Reached double figure scoring for the third time in as many games with 16 points at ODU • Scored eight points and had 11 rebounds, five blocks, four steals and three assists in the 67-56 win over No. 2 Kansas • Had 14 points and 10 rebounds against Kentucky • Scored only seven points, but had three blocks and 10 rebounds in the win at Florida State • Broke the fifth metatarsal in his left foot early in the second half of the Dec. 27 game against Iona in Madison Square Garden • Had nine first-half rebounds against Iona before being injured • Had surgery on Dec. 30 • Doctors placed a stainless steel screw in his foot and injected bone marrow from his hip to enhance the healing process • Originally suffered a stress reaction in his left foot when he stepped on a teammate's foot in practice following the Kentucky game • Returned to action in the ACC Tournament semifinal versus Duke on March 15 for the first time since breaking his left foot on December 27 • Played 10:21 against the Blue Devils and had four points, three rebounds, two blocked shots, an assist and a steal • Scored the first two times he had the ball inside.
