General--Three-time returning letter winner...has added tremendous depth on the forward line for the Tar Heels the last three seasons...a real speed burner who Coach Dorrance refers to as "a bolt of lightning"...three of her four career goals have come in postseason matches.
2004 Season -- Played in 12 games off the bench in 2004...scored a pair of goals...had a goal in the win at Virginia Tech and another in the NCAA first-round victory over Campbell.
2003 Season--Saw action in 18 matches as a reserve forward...contributed with five assists...had assists on the first four goals UNC scored against Guilford in Carolina's 9-0 win.
2002 Season--Contributed in a reserve role at forward, seeing action in 12 matches...she scored two goals--one in the ACC Tournament championship game against Clemson and the other in the NCAA first round win over Radford.
Prep--Graduated from Shawnee Heights High School on May 19, 2002...was recruited by several schools to both play soccer and run track...played basketball and soccer and also ran track...was a three-time selection to the All-City, All-League and All-Regional teams in soccer...was an academic letter winner...was outstanding in track in high school...at the 2002 state championship meet she finished third in the 100 and 200 meters and was on the 4x400 relay team which won the state title...won a total of 10 city and three regional championships in individual events and on relays in her high school career...also won 2002 USATF state title in the 100 meters...as a sophomore she pulled off the double of competing in the regional track meet and a regional soccer match on the same day.
Personal--Given name is Leea Dawnyiel Murphy... was born May 15, 1984 in Topeka, Kan....is the daughter of Lance and Colette Murphy...her stepmother played softball at the University of Kansas...has four sisters.... hobbies include dancing, listening to music and watching TV...biggest thrill being a member of the 2003 NCAA championship team...favorite book is The Notebook...favorite food is Chinese.... favorite movie is Remember the Titans and favorite TV show is The OC...says her father has had the greatest influence on her athletic career...exercise and sports science major...athletes she most admires are Jennifer Perkins, Lance Armstrong, Mia Hamm and Raymond Felton.
