Tar Heels Hold Their First Scrimmage Of The Fall

Chapel Hill, NC--Â The North Carolina Tar Heels went five innings in their first scrimmage of the Fall on Monday afternoon at the Bosh on a beautiful afternoon for baseball.Â
Offensive Highlights: Casey Cuddyer was 2-3 with two RBI, including a 376-foot home run to right center for the only homer of the afternoon. Jamie Laskofski, who tripled down the right-field line, was 2-3 with two runs scored. Mandela Browman  was 2-2 with one RBI on a pair of doubles.
Devin Russell was 2-3, including a double. Gavin Gallaher, who was 2-2 with a walk, was the only other player with multiple base hits.
Pitching Highlights:Â Eight Tar Heels saw action on the mound: Sean Hurley, Major Osbolt, Preston Crowl, Tim Lawson, Jimmy Voorhies, Joey Ruller, Scott Doran (24) and Ryan Smith.
Joey Ruller tossed 2.0 scoreless innings, giving up one base hit. Jimmy Voorhies threw 1.1 scoreless innings  while striking out two.
Ryan Smith struck out three batters while giving up no runs in 1.1 innings. Preston Crowl hurled 1.1 scoreless innings.
The Tar Heels will hold their next scrimmage on Wednesday afternoon.
