Heels Open Conference Play With Home Series Against Virginia
March 5, 2026 | Baseball
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Diamond Heels march into the first test of the grueling ACC gauntlet this weekend with Virginia coming to town.
UNC is 51-25 at the Bosh in ACC play under Scott Forbes, splitting 3-3 against UVA in his tenure. These teams faced off in weekend series each of the first four years under Forbes, with the Hoos taking three of the four. However, Carolina is 2-0 in the postseason meetings in that span.Â
The last series in Chapel Hill was decided by a three run margin, UVA taking the first two before UNC won 12-7 on Sunday. Back in 2021, a No. 12 ranked Cavaliers team came to town and Carolina emerged victorious. The first ACC series of Forbes' career, all three games were decided by just one run.Â

LAST TIME OUT AGAINST THE HOOS

➤ The opening game of the 2024 College World Series for the Heels was won with a two-out, walk-off single from Vance Honeycutt to beat UVA 3-2.Â
➤ It was the fourth time that season that Carolina won a game on the final at-bat.Â
➤ Jackson Van De Brake's pinch-hit leadoff double started the 9th before Honeycutt brought him home.
