Women’s Tennis Opens Weekend With Sweep Over Notre Dame

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 4 University of North Carolina women's tennis opened the weekend with a 4-0 win over Notre Dame Friday afternoon at Chewning Tennis Center.
The Tar Heels took an early 1-0 lead after sweeping the doubles matches. Maddy Zampardo and Susanna Maltby got Carolina started with a quick 6-2 win over Bianca Molnar and Akari Matsuno from Notre Dame. UNC secured the doubles point after Reese Brantmeier and Anna Frey earned a 6-4 victory. Tatum Evans and Alanis Hamilton finished out their match winning 6-3 over the Fighting Irish.
In singles, the Tar Heels recorded wins on courts 4-6 to secure the sweep. Zampardo was the first to finish for Carolina after picking up a dominant, straight-set win. No. 111 Theadora Rabman finished shortly after with another straight-set victory for the Tar Heels. No. 93 Anna Frey clinched the match after topping her opponent from the Fighting Irish.
