CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Carolina cross country programs are headed to Cross Country Town USA to participate in the 2026 Under Armor Pre-Nationals Invitational on Friday morning.
Both genders will be making the trip to Terre Haute, Ind., with racing set to begin on Friday at 10 a.m.
The women will run in the first "blue" of the day, in a 6k joined by 42 other scoring teams. In addition to the 19th ranked Tar Heels, four other ranked programs are set to travel to Indiana in No. 1 NC State, No. 2 BYU, No. 7 Notre Dame and No. 23 Clemson. Including the three ranked competitors, nine Atlantic Coast Conference teams will be in attendance in preparation for this month's ACC Championship.
The men will take the later slot, racing in the "blue" 8k at 10:40 a.m. With a similar field to their Tar Heel counterparts, Carolina will race against athletes hailing from 43 different schools with three in the USTFCCCA top-25. The men's 8k will feature an additional seven ACC teams in the morning face.
The Tar Heels have yet to place out of the top five in a race this season across both genders. The women have produced a first place and second place finish in their regular season races while the men have placed first and fifth. Individually, Carolina has seen two podium finishes by Ciara O'Shea while having a total of 15 athletes place within the top-15 over two races.
