Joe Barrett finishes in second at Adidas XC Challenge

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Freshman Joe Barrett earned his first career conference cross country accolade when the Atlantic Coast Conference named him Men's Freshman Performer of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 23.

Joe Barrett (17:58.0) led the way in his collegiate debut as he was the first collegiate runner to cross the finish line. Barrett finished second overall. On the men's side, five out of seven entrants finished second through sixth to finish first as a team with 15 points to win the Adidas XC Challenge.

This is the first ACC award for Carolina and the first award since Parker Wolfe won the award for setting a new course record of 23:04.0 at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational.
