CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the 2025 Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll and Team Thursday afternoon. University of North Carolina women's soccer topped the preseason poll after receiving 10 first-place votes and 246 points.
The Tar Heels finished fourth in the final ACC standings last season before going on to claim their 23rd national championship.
The 2025 Preseason All-ACC Team features four Tar Heels: midfielder/defender Tessa Dellarose, forward/midfielder Kate Faasse, forward Olivia Thomas, and midfielder Linda Ullmark.
Dellarose returns for her senior season with Carolina after helping lead the team to a national title. After posting five goals, 10 assists, and 20 points last season, the midfielder earned Fourth Team All-America honors and All-Atlantic Region Second Team.
Faasse prepares for her fourth season as a Tar Heel after having a breakout junior campaign. In 2024, the forward was named MAC Hermann Trophy Winner, Honda Sport Award for Soccer Winner, TopDrawerSoccer Player of the Year, First Team All-America, First Team All-Atlantic Region, and First Team All-ACC. Faasse looks to build off last season where she led the country with 20 goals and finished second in the nation with 44 points.
Thomas is set for her junior season at UNC after being tabbed the 2024 NCAA College Cup Most Outstanding Offensive Player and All-Tournament Team. The forward's goal off a free kick against Wake Forest in the NCAA title game sealed the deal as the Tar Heels claimed the national championship.
Ullmark heads into her second season at Carolina after having one of the top freshman performances in the nation. The midfielder was named to the 2024 NCAA College Cup All-Tournament Team, TopDrawerSoccer Freshman Best XI First Team, ACC All-Freshman Team, and ACC All-Tournament Team.
