Men's Lacrosse Trio Named To USA U20 Roster

SPARKS, Md. - Three North Carolina men's lacrosse players were named to the U.S. Men's U20 Roster, USA Lacrosse announced Tuesday afternoon.Â
Rising juniors Owen Duffy and Brady Wambach, along with incoming freshman Anthony Raio were among the 22-player roster announced today.Â
Duffy ranked second on the Tar Heels with 34 goals in 2025, leading Carolina with 27 assists and 61 points. Duffy has scored three-or-more goals in eight games this spring, and posted five-or-more points in eight contests. The East Quogue, N.Y. product finished the regular season second in the ACC in assists per game (2.0/game) and third in points per game (4.25/game).
Wambach, who finished the year fifth nationally in faceoff winning percentage (.643), became the first Tar Heel faceoff specialist to earn postseason honors this season from the ACC since Stephen Kelly in 2016. The Pittsford, N.Y. product has recorded double-digit faceoff wins in 14 games this spring, as well as 10-or-more ground balls in five contests in 2025. Wambach's 225 faceoff wins this year was the third-most by a Tar Heel in a single season.Â
Raio, who was named the USA Lacrosse High School Player of the Year in June, finished his high school career as Long Island's all-time leader in goals with 282, concluding his prep career with 469 career points. This past spring, Raio posted 99 goals and 77 assists, helping Half Hollow Hills complete the undefeated season and win the New York State Class A Championship. A five-star recruit and the No. 20 overall recruit in the class of 2025 by Inside Lacrosse, Raio will arrive in Chapel Hill this fall.Â
The 2025 World Lacrosse Men's U20 Championship will take place from August 15-24 on Jeju Island, Korea. The U.S. will open its schedule on August 16 with a pool play game against Canada and will also have pool play games against Australia and the Haudenosaunee. All four participants from Pool A will automatically advance to the quarterfinal round of the playoffs which begin on August 21. The gold medal game is scheduled for August 24.
