
Women’s Soccer Announces 2025 Slate

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina women's soccer released the 2025 schedule Monday morning. In his second season at the helm, head coach Damon Nahas will lead the Tar Heels as they look to defend their title as national champions.
Carolina will open the 2025 campaign on the road against Tennessee before hosting Siena in their home opener on Aug. 17. UNC is set to host 10 matches at Dorrance Field this season.
UNC will then head south to take on Georgia. After a date with the Bulldogs, the Tar Heels will begin a four-game homestand starting with Rice before wrapping up against Alabama on Sept. 4.
Carolina begins Atlantic Coast Conference play with a test on the road against Virginia Tech. The Hokies finished last season ranked no. 7 on the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll. UNC versus Virginia Tech marks one of four top 15 matchups for the Tar Heels this season, all of which fall during conference play.
The Heels will return to Dorrance to face the Seminoles of Florida State on Sept. 17. FSU ranked no. 13 in the top 25 last season and claimed the ACC Championship title.
UNC will continue their challenging start to conference play with a Thursday evening matchup at Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish ranked sixth in the final top 25 rankings of 2024.
Carolina will play rival Duke in a mid-October match in Durham, N.C. The Tar Heels went 2-2 against the Blue Devils last season where they picked up major wins over Duke in the ACC Tournament and College Cup Semifinals. Duke finished the 2024 season at no. 3 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll making them the highest ranked opponent from last season that UNC will face.
The Tar Heels will close out the regular season hosting back-to-back ACC matches against Syracuse and NC State the last weekend of October.
The postseason is set to begin during the ACC Tournament Nov. 2-9. The NCAA Tournament kicks off Nov. 14 and will conclude Dec. 8 during the College Cup in Kansas City, Mo.
UNC will look to build off their historic 2024 season where they captured their 23rd national title after finishing the season with a 22-5 overall record and 7-3 record in the ACC.
Carolina heads into the season led by key returners Kate Faasse and Tessa Dellarose. Faasse etched her name in the record books by becoming just the eighth player in program history to win a MAC Hermann Trophy. The senior was also tabbed 2024 Honda Sport Award winner for soccer, TopDrawer Soccer Player of the Year, United Soccer Coaches All-America First Team, United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region First Team, All-ACC First Team, ACC All-Tournament Team, and TopDrawer Soccer Best XI First Team.
Dellarose was named Fourth Team All-America by United Soccer Coaches, Third Team All-ACC, and Second Team All-Atlantic Region. The midfielder led the Heels last season with seven assists and named to the TopDrawer Soccer Team of the Week three times.
