Evelyn Shores Inks Professional Contract With Angel City

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --Â Midfielder Evelyn Shores becomes the newest Tar Heel to turn pro after signing with Angel City FC. Shores will forego her two years of remaining eligibility to join ACFC with fellow Carolina alumni Savy King.
The Atlanta, Ga. native's college journey was not short of adversity. After facing a season ending injury freshman year, Shores worked her way back in 2024 capping off her UNC career as a National Champion.
Despite dealing with injury, Shores made an impact on the pitch. The midfielder returned with just 10 games left in the 2024 season averaging 45.2 minutes during the NCAA Tournament. Carolina's postseason run featured a key goal and assist from Shores in the third round against Minnesota.
Shores was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team after leading the rookie Heels with four goals, three assists, and 11 points and ranked no. 33 on Top Drawer Soccer's Midseason Top-100 Freshman List during the 2023 season.
Since helping the Tar Heels claim their 23rd national title, Shores has continued to impress on the big stage. Shores recently scored her first goal at the international level with a game-winning goal over Germany for the U-23 USWNT. The midfielder also competed with the US Women in The Soccer Tournament (TST) where she nailed another game-winning goal to secure the $1 million tournament prize for the team.
"We are thrilled that Evelyn has decided to start her professional career with Angel City," said ACFC Sporting Director Mark Parsons in an Angel City press release. "Evelyn has an exciting future, and we are privileged that she feels our environment is the next step to continue her development while supporting Angel City with our goals in bringing trophies to LA."
Angel City finished the 2024 season at no. 12 in the NWSL standings.
