Four Tar Heels Invited To U.S. Men's Lacrosse U20 Training Camp

SPARKS, Md. - Four North Carolina men's lacrosse players have been invited to the upcoming U.S. Men's U20 National Team Training Camp, USA Lacrosse announced Monday morning.
Rising juniors Owen Duffy and Brady Wambach, rising sophomore Chase Cellucci and incoming freshman Anthony Raio were named to the training camp roster. Carolina's four training camp members is tied for the most in the country.
The Tar Heel group were apart of the 32-player roster, that will travel to Towson University from June 9-11, the first of three camps before the world championship.
Duffy ranked second on the Tar Heels with 34 goals, leading Carolina with 27 assists and 61 points. Duffy has scored three-or-more goals in eight games this spring, and posted five-or-more points in eight contests. The East Quogue, N.Y. product finished the regular season second in the ACC in assists per game (2.0/game) and third in points per game (4.25/game).
Wambach, who's fifth nationally in faceoff winning percentage (.643), became the first Tar Heel faceoff specialist to earn postseason honors this season from the ACC since Stephen Kelly in 2016. The Pittsford, N.Y. product has recorded double-digit faceoff wins in 14 games this spring, as well as 10-or-more ground balls in five contests in 2025. Wambach's 225 faceoff wins this year was the third-most by a Tar Heel in a single season.
During his freshman campaign, Cellucci started all 15 games at close defense, finishing the year with 30 ground balls and a team best 19 caused turnovers. The Chadds Ford, Pa. product had multiple ground balls in 11 games during his rookie season. In his second collegiate game against Stony Brook, Cellucci had a season-high four ground balls and five caused turnovers, earning ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Raio, a midfielder from Half Hollow Hills East High School, will arrive in Chapel Hill this fall for the Tar Heels. A five-star recruit, Raio is the No. 20 overall recruit in the Class of 2025 by Inside Lacrosse.
The world championship will be held in Seoguipo, South Korea on Jeju Island from August 15-24, 2025.
