Women's Golf Advances To Match Play In ACC Championship

Tar Heel freshman Katie Vu shot a 3-under-par 69 Thursday in the third round to lead the University of North Carolina to a tie for fifth place after stroke play and secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Golf Championship at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro.
Carolina (296-287-297) finished the 54 holes of stroke play at 16-over 880. The Tar Heels tied Cal for fifth place but earned the No. 5 seed by better non-counting scores. UNC will play the No. 4 seed, Wake Forest, in the quarterfinals in match play on Friday beginning at 7:30 a.m.
The winner of the UNC-Wake Forest match will play No. 1 seed and top-ranked Stanford in a semifinal Friday at 1:30 p.m.
Florida State claimed the No. 2 seed and plays the winner of No. 3 Virginia and No. 6 Cal.
Stanford (282-279-276) shot 27-under 837. The Seminoles and Cavaliers tied for second at 12 under, Wake Forest came in fourth at 1 over, and UNC and Cal placed fifth at 16 over. Virginia Tech was seventh, one spot out of qualifying for match play, at 25 over.
Louisville (+28), Clemson (+29), Duke (+30), Boston College (+32), Miami (+38), NC State (+43), SMU (+47) and Notre Dame (+53) rounded out spots eight through 15.
Stanford freshman Andrew Revuelta (67-67-68) won the individual ACC title. She totaled 14-under 202 to defeat Virginia's Amanda Sambach by two shots. FSU's Mirabel Ting and Lottie Woad tied for third at 8-under 208.
Vu made four birdies and only one bogey to tie her best round of the season (69). She began the tournament with an 81 but shot 71-69, four strokes under par, over the final 36 holes. Vu shared UNC's low individual finish with a tie for 25th at 5-over 221 with Ing Iadpleum (69-74-78).
Helen Yeung (79-67-76) tied for 31st at 6-over 222, Megan Streicher (73-75-75) tied for 34th at 7-over 223 and Reagan Southerland (75-76-77) tied for 52nd at 12-over 228.
This is the second consecutive season the Tar Heels have advanced to match play in the ACC Championship. Wake Forest edged UNC, 3-1, in the 2024 semifinals.
