Dark Throws Yet Another Complete Game, Softball Tops Pitt 3-1

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Carolina Softball (19-4, 1-0 ACC) opened ACC play with a 3-1 win over Pitt (10-11, 0-1 ACC) in Kenna Raye Dark's DI leading 10th complete game of the season.

Dark had it rolling from the jump throwing her first five innings without allowing a run. She fanned four batters and lowered her ERA to a mere 1.66. She's thrown 80 innings so far this season.

The UNC bats got all of its work done in the third inning. It opened with Lexie Roberts reaching on an error, Then Kat Rodriguez roped a double down the left field line that scored Roberts. Rodriguez now has 36 RBI on the season which is 11 more than the second most on the team and the most in the ACC. After a Sanaa Thompson single to get Rodriguez to third, Carlie Myrtle brought her home with a sacrifice fly to right, making it 2-0 Tar Heels. Six short pitches later, Kiannah Pierce sent one through the right side of the infield to bring home the third run of the inning.
After giving up her lone earned run of the night in the sixth, Dark trotted back out to the circle and sat Pitt down in order on only nine pitches to get her ninth win of the season.

The Tar Heels look to secure the series tomorrow at 2 PM from Anderson Softball Stadium.
