11 Tar Heels Earn All-ACC Academic FH Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – 11 members of the Carolina field hockey program have earned All-ACC Academic distinction for the 2024 season, the organization announced on Thursday. It is the most honorees UNC has ever had on the conference academic team.

Those honored include Charly Bruder, Sietske Brüning, Molly Catchpole, Kennedy Cliggett, Sanne Hak, Hope Haynes, Ryleigh Heck, Grace Pottebaum, Kelly Smith, Jasmina Smolenaars, and Abigail Taylor. All 11 played key roles on the Tar Heel team that won its eighth straight ACC title and ran to its 28^th final four.

It is the third career award for Brüning, Smith, and Smolenaars while being the second time honored for Bruder, Hak, and Pottebaum. ACC Offensive Player of the Year Ryleigh Heck led the group of first-time winners.

Academic requirements for All-ACC Academic Team selection are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative career average. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team's contests. A total of 135 ACC field hockey student-athletes earned the honor for 2023.
