Cozza, Schutter Take Home Weekly ACC Awards
November 3, 2025 | Volleyball
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After career weeks, Sienna Cozza and Lauren Schutter each took home weekly ACC Awards, the league announced Monday evening.
Â
Cozza earned ACC Freshman of the Week after setting her career-high in assists twice. The Mars, Pa. native dished out 28 assists on Friday in UNC's first top 10 win in nearly a decade when they beat No. 7 SMU, breaking her previous record of 22. She followed that up with 30 assists against No. 4 Pitt on Sunday. As the level of competition has risen, so has her performance; she has now led the team in assists three straight matches, all coming against top 10 opponents. She is the first Tar Heel to win the honor since Jackie Taylor did on the final week of last season.
Â
Schutter was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week after a historic performance on Sunday against No. 4 Pitt. The redshirt junior amassed 13 blocks which is tied for the third most in a single match in program history. She led the team on Friday against #7 SMU with five blocks on the night as well. Schutter is the first Tar Heel to earn this honor since the award started to be given out in the 2023 season.
Â
UNC just earned its highest ranking since preseason 2017, checking in at No. 15 in the latest AVCA Top 25
