Triplett Named Semifinalist For Patrick Mannelly Award
November 17, 2025 | Football
After earning a spot on the 30-man preseason watch list, North Carolina long snapper Spencer Triplett has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the Patrick Mannelly Award, the organization announced Monday night.
Presented annually to the nation's top long snapper, the award is named after former NFL long snapper Patrick Mannelly, who never recorded a bad snap and was accredited to playing a pivotal role in the success of the kickers he played with.
Triplett has gone 87-for-87 on snaps this season with 50 on punts, 20 field goal attempts and 17 extra-point attempts. He has worked tirelessly on perfecting his craft and the accuracy of his snaps, in addition to being a leader in the special teams unit.
This season, Triplett has also been involved in the protection on special teams, which is something he was not asked to do previously and is not an easy technique to master.
The Shelby, North Carolina, native has appeared in 51 games as a Tar Heel and had a perfect snap on the 57-yard field goal by kicker Rece Verhoff to set the program record against Wake Forest last Saturday.
The Patrick Mannelly award benefits Bernie's Book Bank, which is a non-profit organization, dedicated to finding ways to help children develop their reading skills by providing free books to help build their home libraries in the local Lake Buff, Illinois area.
