Streicher, Prats-Rigual Lead Tar Heels To Title At Landfall

Megan Streicher and Marie Prats-Rigual finished in the top three Sunday to propel the University of North Carolina women's golf team to its first team championship of the season, a five-stroke win in the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington.
Streicher placed second at 6-under-par 210, tying her best career finish, and Prats-Rigual earned a career-best tie for third at 5-under 211.
The Tar Heels shot even par or better in all three rounds, totaling 288-284-285 for 7-under 857.
UCF was second at 2-under 862, Wake Forest was third at 4 over, SMU was fourth at 6 over, South Carolina was fifth at 8 over and Duke finished sixth at 9 over.
The 24th-ranked Tar Heels defeated five higher-ranked teams to win the title, including No. 5 Wake Forest, No. 14 Duke, No. 16 South Carolina, No. 18 Kent State and No. 20 UCF.
It was the seventh win for the Tar Heels for head coach Aimee Neff and marked the fourth consecutive season Carolina has won a team title.
Streicher shot rounds of 70-68-72 to finish second, seven shots behind Kent State's Veronika Kedronova. Streicher previously tied for second last year in the Cavalier Regional Preview in Charlottesville. It was her eighth career top-five performance.
Prats-Rigual led the Tar Heels in the final round with a 4-under-par 68. She carded rounds of 71-72-68.
Helen Yeung (73-73-73) tied for 25th at 3-over 219, Reagan Southerland (76-71-75) tied for 35th at 6-over 222 and Grace Ridenour (74-78-72) tied for 48th at 8-over 224.
The Landfall Tradition was UNC's fourth and final tournament of the fall. The season resumes in February in the Puerto Rico Classic.
