#21 Volleyball Sweeps Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, MASS – Carolina volleyball won its eighth match in a row, staying undefeated in Atlantic Coast Conference play, besting Boston College (25-22, 25-15, 25-22) 3-0 on Friday, Oct 17.
The Tar Heels improve to 28-1 against the Boston College Eagles and are now riding a six-match winning streak. Carolina has swept BC in five of the last six matches. Jackie Taylor's performance highlighted the team's defense as she sent back nine blocks. Carolina held BC's hitting to under .100. Today marks the 5th time that they have held the opposition to .100 or lower.
Like clockwork, Safi Hampton notched her 15th game of the season with at least ten kills with 13 total.Â
In the first set, Carolina fell behind early, down 7-2. The Tar Heels chipped away at the lead slowly, before a 7-1 run to take the lead back 13-12. The set continued to stay close as Carolina closed it out on a 3-0 run to win 25-22.
The Tar Heels responded with authority in the second set, starting with an 11-2 run, which set them up to bring home the victory by double digits, winning 25-15.
The third and final set was back and forth as Boston College took an early lead 4-2 before Carolina responded with a quick 6-0 run. Both sides exchanged blows as the Eagles tied the final set 19-19. After the tie, Carolina notched six straight points before winning the third set 25-22Â to pick up the road victory.
Carolina wraps up the East Coast travel swing with a 2:00 p.m. EST Sunday afternoon match with Syracuse on ACCN.
