October 10, 2025 | Volleyball
CLEMSON, S.C. - Carolina volleyball kicked off the weekend swing on the road with another win, extending its winning streak to six consecutive against Clemson (25-21, 25-13, 25-10). The Tar Heels improved its overall win streak to six.
The ACC Offensive Player of the Week, Safi Hampton, continued her incredible season with her ninth match with at least 15 kills. Hampton's offensive explosion helped give Carolina its second straight sweep against Clemson and third consecutive sweep overall.
Carolina led the match in every major statistical category in hitting percentage, aces, attacks, kills, assists, digs, and blocks. The Tar Heels had 23 more kills than the Tigers.
At the start of the first set, the Tar Heels went blow for blow with the Tigers. Clemson challenged the Tar Heels as they kept the score close, even having the lead at 4-5 before the Tar Heels sparked a 5-0 run that gave them the lead for good. Even as Clemson tried to get back in the set 14-12, the Tar Heels responded with a 4-0 run. Defensively, Carolina shut down the Tigers, holding them to a .061 hitting percentage in the first set, winning 25-21.
The second set was much of the same as both sides were knotted up at 9-9, but once again, the Tar Heels responded with an electric 10-2 scoring streak as Jackie Taylor produced from the service line, sending home three service aces. The sophomore finished with a career-high four aces which was double her previous high. Carolina dominated the second half of the middle set, scoring only three times against the opposition.
The Tar Heels raced out to a 10-5 lead in the third set. Clemson wouldn't back down, however, cutting the UNC lead to 11-10 and eventually tying things at 13-13. A balanced Carolina attack steadied the ship and it went on to win the set 25-20 to earn another sweep.
