Baseball Set For Top-20 Matchup Against Coastal Carolina

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Fresh off a three-game series sweep of Notre Dame, No. 11 North Carolina will host No. 19 Coastal Carolina at Boshamer Stadium on Tuesday at 6 p.m. for a non-conference matchup.
The game will stream on ACC Network Extra.
The Tar Heels (29-7) are 23-0 at home this season and have won 27 consecutive games at The Bosh dating back to May of last year. Coastal Carolina (24-11) is 5-7 on the road this season with wins over Appalachian State, Georgia Southern and Louisiana-Monroe.
Although the Chanticleers won both meetings last season, the Tar Heels hold a considerable lead in the all-time series, 47-22, with a 32-14 record at home. UNC and CCU have split the last 10 meetings, 5-5.
Coastal Carolina is coming off a Sun Belt series win over Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Ga., over the weekend. It closed out the series with a 16-4 win in the rubber match.

The Tar Heels recorded their sixth three-game series sweep this past weekend against Notre Dame. Six players combined for seven home runs, two by Vance Honeycutt, and UNC outscored the Fighting Irish 30-5 in the series. Carolina pitchers compiled a 1.44 ERAÂ with 23 strikeouts against eight walks in 25 innings pitched.

Sophomore Matthew Matthijs continues to lead the NCAA in victories with 11 and tops the ACC in appearances with 20. Michael Ross of Samford and USC Upstate's Noah Sullivan are second nationally with eight.

Vance Honeycutt has an opportunity to become the first player in ACC history to hit 50 home runs AND steal 70 bases in his career. He currently has 49 home runs and 68 stolen bases. His next home run will make him the third 50-50 player in league history, joining Florida State's J.D. Drew (69-53) and Clemson's Khalil Greene (52-55).

Parks Harber (46), Vance Honeycutt (49), and Alberto Osuna (40) have combined for 135 career home runs. UNC is the only Division I team with three players with 40 career home runs. Honeycutt ranks seventh among active players, Harber 12th, and Osuna is 28th.
Stevenson Producing Multiple Hits and RBIs
Freshman Luke Stevenson has recorded multiple hits in five of the past seven games and has collected multiple RBIs in six of the last nine games. Since the middle game of the Wake Forest series, Stevenson is hitting .342 (12-35) with five home runs and 20 RBIs.
Run Producers
Casey Cook, Alberto Osuna, and Stevenson rank among the top 12 in the ACC in RBIs. Cook has driven in a career-best 51 RBIs, second most in the conference and ninth most in the country. Osuna ranks ninth with 40, and Stevenson is tied for 12th with 39.
