Gymnastics To Celebrate Senior Night Friday Against Kentucky

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina gymnastics team returns to Carmichael Arena for the final time this season, hosting sixth-ranked Kentucky for a 7:30 p.m. ET meet on Friday, March 8. Introductions will begin at 7:15 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Â
The meet will air on ACCNX with Sydney Snead and Brian Waer on call. Tickets are available for purchase here.
At the conclusion of the meet, the Tar Heels will honor their graduating class in seniors Kate Greene, Allison LaNasa, Jamie Shearer and Cory Shinohara as well as graduate student Hallie Thompson for Senior Night presented by Carolina Alumni.

Ten Things to Know
- 2024 marks UNC's first season in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The ACC previously sponsored a conference championship for gymnastics in 1984.
- Lali Dekanoidze earned the ACC's first-ever ACC Gymnast of the Week honor on Jan. 9 after a career-high 9.925 on vault in the season opener.
- Isabelle Schaefer became UNC's first-ever ACC Specialist of the Week on Jan. 15 after matching her career-high 9.925 on bars at the ESPN Collegiate Quad.
- Camryn Rueda was named UNC's first-ever ACC Newcomer of the Week on Feb. 12 after setting a new career-high 9.875 on floor at NC State.
- Dekanoidze's 9.925 on vault (on Jan. 5) is tied for the second-highest score in the ACC on the event heading into week 10. Julia Knower's 9.925 on floor (on Feb. 16) is also the second-highest score in the league. Â
- Schaefer's 9.925 (done three times this year) and Dekanoidze's 9.925 (on Feb. 23) are tied for the third-highest scores on bars in the ACC so far.
- In their last outing on March 3 at Nebraska Quad, Dekanoidze tied for first on vault (9.85) and Knower tied for first on beam (season-high 9.875). UNC totaled 195.2 for its second-highest road score of the year.
- The Heels have 10 rotations of 49.0+ so far this year. Their home meet against Pitt on Feb. 16 was the first time all year where every rotation was above 49.
- In its last home meet on Feb. 16, UNC had a breakout meet as its season-high 196.65 is the eighth best score in school history. The team also had season-high marks of 49.3 on bars, 49.225 on floor and 49.025 on beam.
- Kentucky is ranked sixth in the country, marking UNC's highest-ranked opponent this year. The Wildcats will arrive in Chapel Hill with an NQS of 197.531.
