Track & Field Dominate Phoenix Invitational With Six Victories & Numerous Top Finishes

Burlington, N.C.—The University of North Carolina track and field program kicked off the outdoor season with a strong performance on Friday at the Phoenix Invitational, hosted by Elon University at the Jerry and Jeanne Robertson Track and Field Complex.Â
Tar Heel men and women primarily competed in field events, including the hammer throw, pole vault, javelin, high jump, and discus, along with a few track events.
The Tar Heels clinched victory in six events, including debut wins by freshmen Spencer Young in javelin and Sam Romerhaus in the hammer throw.Â
Senior Sydney Banks also secured victory in the women's high jump, junior Brayden Radhuber in the men's discus, and sophomores Peyton Berryman in the women's pole vault, and Jack De Francesco in the men's pole vault.
Overall, the Tar Heels amassed 27 top-ten finishes, 21 within the top five, and 15 within the top three.
