Hot Bats Propel Softball To A 12-1 Victory At Elon

ELON, N.C. – The Carolina softball team improved to 20-4 with a 12-1 five-inning victory at Elon on Wednesday afternoon, the Tar Heels' tenth run-rule victory of the season.
Junior Alex Coleman led the Tar Heel offense with her fifth four-hit outing of the season, while also matching her career-best of four runs. Redshirt sophomore Isabela Emerling hit her second grand slam of the season, her nineth home run, leading Carolina with a game-high four RBIs.
Senior Skyler Brooks recorded her first triple of the season, fourth of her career, while she and graduate Autumn Owen contributed three RBIs a piece.
Eight of the nine Tar Heel hitters that batted recorded a hit in the victory. As a team, Carolina recorded 12 hits, the 15th time that the Tar Heels have had double-digit hits in a game.
In the circle, freshman Nikki Harris improved to 5-2, allowing just two hits and one run in 3.1 innings with five strikeouts and no walks. Redshirt junior Britton Rogers tossed the last 1.2 innings, recording three strikeouts, limiting the Phoenix to one hit and a pair of walks.
Up next, the Tar Heels travel to Clemson for a three-game conference series from March 15-17.
