Softball Slugs 21-1 Victory Over NCCU

Lexi Godwin set a new single-game program record with 10 RBIs, going 4-for-4 at the plate with two home runs, including a grand slam. The previous record (7) was held by head coach Megan Smith Lyon and former Tar Heel Hannah George.
In the circle, Britton Rogers allowed just one run in the game, a two-out solo home run in the top of the first, before shutting the Eagles out the rest of the game. She tallied eight strikeouts in five innings of work, improving to 5-0 on the season.
NOTABLES:
- The 21 runs plated by the Tar Heels in the victory are the most scored by a Carolina team since March 28, 2015, vs. Virginia (24)
- The last time the Tar Heels hit five home runs in a game was vs. Marshall on Feb. 26, 2017
- This is the second time this season that Isabela Emerling has hit two home runs in the same game. The last time was vs. Kentucky on Feb. 15
- For the first time in her career, Lexi Godwin hit not only two home runs in the same game, but the same inning. Godwin's grand slam was her second career grand slam and first since April 7, 2019, vs. Virginia
- Freshman Raeghan Carlson tallied her first home run in her first collegiate at-bat. All three of the Tar Heel freshmen who have recorded an at-bat, Sanaa Thompson, Kate Bubela and Carlson, have hit a home run this season
- Godwin's 10 RBIs are the second-most by any player in the NCAA this season. Samiyya Huckabee of Jackson State (12) leads the nation
- Four different Tar Heels had multi-hit games against NCCU: Emerling (2), Thompson (3), Abby Settlemyre (3) and Godwin (4)
- Autumn Owen drew three walks in four of her at-bats
- The Tar Heels have tallied double-digit hits in 11 games this season
- As a team, Carolina hit a season-high .552 against the Eagles
