Swimming And Diving Welcomes No. 1 Virginia To Chapel Hill

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Swimming and Diving is back in action on Friday at 4:00 p.m. EST against the four-time defending NCAA Champions, the University of Virginia.

Carolina opened their season by splitting last Friday's meet on Oct. 25, against Auburn University. The squads responded by sweeping South Carolina on Saturday.

Graduate student Aranza Vázquez Montaño won her 15th career weekly Atlantic Coast Conference award.

Vázquez Montaño earned her first win of the season in 1M against Auburn University with a score of 327.45. She also finished second in the 1M against the University of South Carolina, scoring 322.13

The Tar Heels produced some incredible times this past weekend. The men's squad has ten swimmers ranked in the country's top ten, while the women's squad has four top-ten times, including the 200-medley relay.

Rankings:
North Carolina's women's team is ranked No. 21 in the country. Virginia's women's team is the No. 1 team in the country and the men's squad checks in at No. 15.
