Women's Tennis Takes Down No. 11 Auburn

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The North Carolina women's tennis team (3-0), defeated the No. 11 Auburn Tigers (0-1) 6-1 on Saturday at UNC's Cone-Kenfield Indoor Center. Saturday was Carolina's first of two matches against SEC opponents this weekend.
To begin the day, at No. 2 doubles, the top-ranked duo of Reese Brantmeier and Elizabeth Scotty gave Carolina the doubles point advantage after winning 6-2. Shortly after, at No. 3 doubles, the No. 11 tandem of Abbey Forbes and Reilly Tran won 6-3 to clinch the doubles point and give the Tar Heels a 1-0 advantage entering singles play.
In singles play, Elizabeth Scotty jumped out to a quick 6-3 first set win on court three before winning the second set and her match while giving the Tar Heels a 2-0 lead over Auburn. Moments later, on court one, Fiona Crawley won 6-3, 6-3 to put Carolina on the brink of its first top-15 win of the 2024 season. On court six, Reilly Tran won 6-0, 6-4 to clinch the win and cement the victory for North Carolina.
Despite already clinching the match, Carson Tanguilig and Reese Brantmeier each picked up victories as they finished out their matches.
