Softball Travels to Charlotte for Wednesday Midweek

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Carolina softball team returns to action on Wednesday, kicking off a five-game road trip with a midweek matchup at Charlotte. The matchup gets underway at Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium at 6 p.m. and will be broadcasted live on ESPN+.

The Tar Heels are coming off a 1-3 week, earning a midweek victory over App State before being swept by Clemson in a three-game home ACC series.

Notables:

Carolina (19-17, 4-8 ACC) is 61-15 in the all-time series against the 49ers and 21-9 in Charlotte (22-14, 4-8 C-USA)
The Tar Heels have won six of the last seven matchups with Charlotte. In the last meeting on April 6, 2021, the 49ers earned a 11-4 victory over Carolina
The Tar Heels are 6-2 against in-state teams this season
Charlotte assistant coach Taylor Wike is a Carolina softball alumnus. She currently holds the program record for career on-base percentage, double plays and assists and ranks No. 2 in career hits, walks, and runs, No. 3 in total bases, No. 5 in doubles and stolen base percentage, No. 6 RBIs, No. 7 in slugging percentage and sacrifice flies
Taylor Greene has reached base in the last 17 games
Sara Jubas leads the team with 11 multiple RBI games and nine multi-hit games this season this season
Bri Stubbs has recorded a hit in each of the last seven games. She currently ranks No. 5 in the ACC for on-base percentage (.508)
The Tar Heel defense has turned 14 double plays this season, which ranks as the third-most in the conference
