Vazquez Qualifies For NCAA Women's Diving Championships

ATLANTA – UNC sophomore Aranza Vazquez claimed first place on the 1-meter springboard with a score of 671.95 and punched her ticket to the 2022 NCAA Championships Sunday afternoon on the first day of the Zone B Diving Championships at the McCauley Aquatic Center.
Vazquez is ninth Tar Heel to qualify for the NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, also taking place at the McAuley Aquatic Center. Last season, she finished as the runner-up at the NCAA Championships in the 1-meter (348.45) and 3-meter (384.75) springboard competitions last season.
Vazquez was joined in the finals by junior Paige Burrell, who turned a score of 545.70 to finish in 13th-place.
Zones continue Monday with Burrell and Vazquez competing in the women's 3-meter. The top 10 finishers will automatically qualify for nationals.
