Men 4th, Women 6th At ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Four Tar Heels won titles and the Carolina record book got numerous updates as the North Carolina track & field teams competed at the 2022 Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, which wrapped up on Saturday at Rector Field House.
UNC's Taryn Parks won the women's mile, Anna Keefer won the women's long jump, Daniel McArthur won the men's shot put and Isaiah Palmer won the men's 200 meters.
The women's team was sixth overall, up three spots from last year, with 59.5 points. The Tar Heels nearly doubled their points total from last year's 30.5. The men were fourth overall with 66 points, down two spots from last year's second-place finish.
A total of 17 Tar Heels earned All-ACC honors, seven on the first team (spots one through three in each event) and 10 on the second team (spots four through six). Keefer earned first-team honors in the long jump and second-team in both the 60 meters and 200 meters. McArthur earned first-team honors in the shot put and second-team in the weight throw. Palmer was first-team in the 400 meters and second team in the 200 meters. And Alex Ostberg earned two second-team honors, in the men's 3000 meters and 5000 meters.
Keefer won her title with a school-record distance in the long jump. Other Tar Heels to set school records were Jill Shippee in the women's weight throw, Alex Potts in the women's high jump, Ostberg in the men's 3000m, Parker Wolfe in the men's 5000m and McArthur in the shot put.
