2019-20: Finished eighth in the pole vault after clearing 13-3.5 (4.05 meters) at the ACC Indoor Championships • Competed in five regular season competitions, including a first-place finish at the Power 5 Invitational with a vault height of 13-5 (4.09 meters) • Outdoor season canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic • Named to the 2019-20 ACC Academic Honor Roll.
2018-19: Qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Round where she finished 17th in the women’s pole vault with a lifetime-best height of 13-4.25 (4.07m) • Placed seventh in the pole vault with a then-personal-best height of 13-2.25 (4.02m) at the ACC Outdoor Championships • Cleared four meters for the first time in her career [13-1.75 (4.01m)] at High Point’s VertKlasse Meeting • Collected top-three finishes at the Yellow Jacket Invitational (second), VertKlasse Meeting (second) and the Battle of the Blues (third) • In indoors, finished 10th in the pole vault [13-0.75 (3.98m)] at the ACC Indoor Championships • Cleared 13 feet for the first time at Clemson’s Tiger Paw Invitational [13-0.75 (3.98m)] • Named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll • Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Individual.
2017-18: Finished 16th at the ACC Outdoor Championships with a mark of 12-3 1/2 (3.75m) • Cleared 12-5 1/2 for 18th-place at the ACC Indoor Championships • Won the Miami Hurricane Collegiate Invitational pole vault competition with a height of 12-6 1/4 (3.82m) • Set a personal record of 12-10 1/4 (3.92m) at the Battle of the Blues, finishing third • Was the runner-up at both the Virginia Grand Prix and the Weems Baskin Relays • Made ten pole vault appearances during her freshman season • Named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll.

Personal: Emerson Makenna Porter is the daughter of Ed and Kathy Porter • Born June 3 • Was a competitive gymnast for 13 years and competed in the NC State Championships, the USA Olympic Regional Championships and was an alternate for the USA Junior Olympic Nationals • Transitioned to track and field as a junior in high school • Has three siblings – Katie, Kelsey & Jake • Katie graduated from the US Naval Academy in 2016, where she played varsity tennis and is now a Naval Flight Officer • Kelsey is a senior at UNC and a four-year member of the Carolina dance team.
