UNC's school-record DMR team: Thomas Ratcliffe, Isaiah Palmer, Allen Siegler and Brandon Tubby
Carolina DMR Team Sets School Record
February 19, 2021 | Track & Field
North Carolina set a school record in the men's indoor distance medley Friday evening at the JDL DMR Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C. The team of Thomas Ratcliffe, Isaiah Palmer, Allen Siegler and Brandon Tubby ran a 9:38.96, the fastest in school history and good for third in the field.
The converted time of 9:31.20 is sixth in the NCAA this indoor season and likely fast enough to qualify for a spot in the 2021 NCAA Championship field, which includes the top 12 DMR teams.
Palmer is a senior and Ratcliffe, Siegler and Tubby are graduate students.
The Tar Heels took fourth in the women's DMR in 11:22.27. Racing for UNC were senior Emmeline Fisher, junior Maiah Walker, grad student Erin Edmundson and freshman Taryn Parks.
Carolina also competed Friday at the Virginia Tech Challenge in Blacksburg, Va. Freshman Isiah Travis placed second in the men's 600 meters with a time of 1:20.68
The Tar Heels continue action in Blacksburg on Saturday. This is the team's final action before the Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Championships, set for Feb. 25-27 in Clemson, S.C.
