Two Tar Heels turned in season bests in the pole vault Saturday at the Virginia Tech Challenge. Senior Emerson Porter and sophomore Ben Finger were the sole Carolina representatives in action in the second day of the final event before Atlantic Coast Conference Championships next week.

Porter, from Charlotte, N.C., registered a height of 3.89 meters, good for ninth in the women's field.

Finger, from Dallas, N.C., had a height 4.92 meters, seventh in the men's field.

Competition took place at the Hokies' Rector Field House. It marked UNC's fourth trip of the season to Blacksburg, Va.

Next up is a return trip to Clemson, S.C. The Tar Heels competed there at the Tiger Paw Invitational last weekend and now return for the 2021 ACC Indoor Championships Feb. 25-27.
