Highlights Across The Board As UNC Competes At Clemson and Liberty

Tar Heels competed at the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C., and at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational in Lynchburg, Va., on Saturday, with several capping the weekend with personal bests.
In Clemson, Tar Heels took two of the top three spots in the men's weight throw. Junior James Joycey threw a lifetime best 20.91m, the fifth-longest throw in school history, to take second place. Junior Troy Yearwood was third with a throw of 19.96m.
Other highlights in Clemson:
• In the women's weight throw, senior Jill Shippee registered a season-best throw of 20.05 meters to place third.
• Senior Anna Keefer ran an indoor PR of 24.16 in women's 200 meters, placing 13th overall in that event.
• Sophomore Sydney Banks tied for second in the long jump with a best of 1.72m.
Tar Heel distance runners competed at Liberty, where Paige Hofstad won the women's 3000 meters in a time of 9:26.25 and Mady Clahane placed fourth.
Erin Edmundson was fifth in the women's 800 meters.
Three Tar Heels ran in the men's 800 meters, led by Brandon Tubby's seventh-place finish.
Next up for the Tar Heels is a fourth trip of the season back to Virginia Tech's Rector Field House. They'll compete there on Friday and Saturday at the VT Challenge. UNC will also be in action at the JDL DMR Invitational in the final weekend of competition before the ACC Indoor Championships Feb. 25-27 in Clemson. For the complete 2021 schedule, click here.
