Cross Country Runs To Top-3 Finishes At NCAA Regionals

ANCHORAGE, Ky. – Both North Carolina cross country squads finished in the top three Friday at the NCAA Southeast Regionals, with the UNC women second and the men third overall in racing at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.
With the top-two finish the Tar Heel women earned a spot in the NCAA Championship field, qualifying as a team for the second year in a row. With their best regionals finish since 2014, the UNC men are in the hunt for an at-large bid as the NCAA field is announced on Saturday at 5 p.m. on NCAA.com.
The NCAA Championships are set for Nov. 20th in Tallahasee, Fla.
The highest Tar Heel finisher on the day was freshman Parker Wolfe, who took fifth in the men's 10K race in a time of 29:23.4. Junior Jack Aho placed 10th in 29:36.4.
Fifth-year senior Paige Hofstad led the Tar Heel women with a 10th-place finish with a time of 20:23.4 over the 6K course. UNC had four more in the top 20 with Brynn Brown in 13th, Kelsey Harrington in 15th, Ava Dobson 16th and Natalie Tyner 19th.
