Carolina Begins Roadtrip at Tennessee, Lipscomb

CHAPEL HILL – Following seven-straight games at Anderson Stadium, North Carolina begins a 10-game roadtrip at Tennessee Tuesday and Lipscomb Wednesday.

Tuesday's game at Sheri Parker Lee Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee is slated for 8 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPNU by Eric Frede and Madison Shipman. Carolina continues on from Knoxville to face Lipscomb in Nashville, Tennessee at Draper Diamond with a 5 p.m. first pitch Wednesday that will be available on ESPN+.

Following the devastating tornado that hit Nashville in March, the Tar Heels collected relief items during their series vs. Syracuse. Carolina will be delivering the items collected when the team plays Lipscomb on March 11.

Recently for North Carolina (9-13)
Sophomore Hannah George threw a two-hit gem to pace Carolina to the 3-2 win over Syracuse in the series opener on Friday evening in Chapel Hill. The right-hander struck out a career-best, eight batters, limiting the Orange to one earned run for the win in the series opener. However, the Tar Heels were unable to close out the series as Syracuse won the final two games, despite late UNC leads. Carolina led through the fourth inning Saturday and the sixth Sunday, but timely Syracuse hitting earned the series win for the Orange.
» A two-hit performance by Abby Settlemyre, highlighted by her first home run of 2020, pushed the Tar Heels ahead of Syracuse on Friday. Junior Megan Dray slugged her seventh career home run Sunday.
» Freshman Destiny Middleton highlighted Carolina's defense with several noteworthy plays, including diving for a bunt that made its way to No. 4 on Sports Center's Top 10.
» Outfielders Shayla Thompson and Bri Stubbs led Carolina at the plate, batting .571 and .556, respectively. Stubbs stole two of UNC's 10 bases during the series.

About Tennessee (14-8)
Wrapping up a seven-game homestand, Tennessee hosts North Carolina Tuesday before heading to Texas A&M to begin SEC play. The Lady Vols are coming off a 4-1 weekend as the Tennessee Invite champions with a 5-0 win over Stanford.
Series (streak): Tennessee leads, 6-2 (won one)
Last meeting: Tennessee won, 2-0 on May 19, 2019 in Knoxville NCAA Regional

About Lipscomb (11-10)
Winning the series vs. Tennessee Tech, Lipscomb faces its second ACC foe of the 2020 season in North Carolina before heading to Billiken Tournament. The Lady Bison topped Duke, 2-0 at the Texas Invitational on Feb. 21. Led by Presley Leebrick's .356 average, three Lady Bison are batting over .300.
