March 10, 2020 | Softball
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Clinched by Hannah George's fifth strikeout of the night, perfect defense and timely Carolina hitting paved the way for the Tar Heels' 3-2 comeback win at Tennessee on Tuesday evening in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Although Tennessee scored first, North Carolina plated three runs in the fourth off the bats of Lexi Godwin and Zoë Goodman to claim the lead enough for the win. The Lady Vols cut the margin to one in the fifth, but clean fielding and a pair of seventh-inning strikeouts secured the win. George tossed her ninth complete game while Carolina improved to 10-13 on the season and Tennessee moved to 14-9.
