Freshman Smith Leads Heels In Round Two

FRANKLIN, Tenn. — The North Carolina women's golf program wrapped up round two at the Mason Rudolph Championship on Saturday with a team total 292 (+4) on the day. The Tar Heels head into the third and final round in fourth place, 288-292—580.
Freshman Kayla Smith led the Heels in the second round, shooting 70 (-2) and carding four birdies during the 18-hole round. Her 2-under-par performance helped the Burlington native jump 19 spots in the individual standings.
Sophomore Nicole Lu earned Carolina's second-best finish of the day with her round of 71 (-1), an impressive rebound after a few first round struggles.
Junior Ava Bergner and freshman Krista Junkkari also contributed to the Tar Heel total on Saturday. Bergner finished her round 2-over (74) with Junkkari 5-over (77).
Senior Brynn Walker carded a round total 79 (+7) in the second round.
