Carolina Hosts UNCW, Travels to UNCG

CHAPEL HILL – Taking back-to-back ACC series against top-25 opponents, North Carolina takes on a pair of in-state foes, Tuesday vs. UNCW at home and Wednesday at UNCG in Greensboro. Despite leading the series against both, the Tar Heels dropped close games to both the Seahawks and Spartans in 2018.

Both games are slated for 6 p.m. Admission is free to both Anderson Stadium and UNCG Softball Stadium. Fans unable to attend Tuesday's game in Chapel Hill can watch on the ACC Network Extra or follow live stats at unclivestats.com. Fans can follow Wednesday's game in Greensboro at uncgspartans.com.

Leah Murray had a stand-out weekend at Virginia Tech, swiping career base 100 and moving into the top-10 program records in both runs (128) and hits (214). Freshman Hannah George book-ended the week with top-25 wins in the circle.

Recently for Carolina (29-15)
Following the theme of the 2019 season, the series opener in Blacksburg was postponed until Saturday due to storms. However, it didn't rattle the Tar Heels who took their second top-25 series with a 2-1 decision on the road at No. 21 Virginia Tech. Carolina blanked VT, 3-0 on Saturday. The Tar Heels bounced back from a game one loss in Sunday afternoon's doubleheader, to win the series finale over No. 21 Virginia Tech, 8-4.
» Leah Murray stole her 100th career base in the second game of the series. Her five hits and three runs throughout the week, bring her career totals to 214 and 128, respectively, to rank 10th in both categories in the UNC record books.
» Hannah George continued to shine in the circle with her second top-25 win of the week. Brittany Pickett limited the Hokies to three-hits in the series opener for the complete game win.
» Megan Dray extended her reached-base streak to 19 games. Leah Murray extended her hitting streak to 15 games.
» The wins mark Carolina's seventh and eighth ranked wins of 2019 – the most ranked wins in a single season in program history. Prior to 2019, the most ranked wins in a season was six in 2010.

About UNCW (24-23)
Coming off a CAA series win at Delaware, UNC wraps up its roadtrip at North Carolina Tuesday. The Seahawks and Blue Hens split Friday's doubleheader before UNCW won the rubber game on Saturday afternoon, 7-5. Sophomore Carson Shaner leads the Seahawks with a .311 average.
