UNC Drops Carolina Classic Opener to GW

CHAPEL HILL – Despite a career high of six strikeouts for Hannah George, North Carolina dropped the Carolina Classic opener to George Washington, 7-0, on Thursday afternoon at Anderson Stadium. UNC scattered three hits throughout the game, but the Colonials jumped on the board early to earn their second win of the day.
The Tar Heels resume action in the Carolina Classic Friday at 6:30 vs. Fairfield. UNC falls to 6-8 while George Washington improves to 9-2.

» George Washington took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on a sac-fly and RBI-single. The Colonials tacked on two more in the third
» Destiny DeBerry put down a bunt-single and stole second. Campbell Hutcherson logged a second hit for Carolina with a single through the right side in the third.
» The Colonials' Sierra Lange drove in a fifth run for GW on an RBI-double in the fourth.
» Hannah George, Abby Settlemyre and Lexi Godwin turned a double play in the sixth inning.
