Tar Heels in Thirteenth After Second Round of Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate

NEW ORLEANS - After two rounds of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, the Tar Heels are in thirteenth place, led by junior Mariana Ocano (+5), who shot a 1-over-par 73 on Monday afternoon at the English Turn Golf & Country Club.
Ocano's second round performance was three strokes better than her first day at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate. The course conditions were more challenging in the second round as no team scored under par, but the Tar Heels improved from their day one score by two strokes, combining for a 302 (+15).
Ava Bergner (+11) posted a 3-over-par 75, which included a 2-under-par first nine.
Kelly Whaley (+10) carded an eagle on her second nine en route to a 6-over-par 78.
Nicole Lu (+10) recorded the Tar Heels' second best round of the day with a 5-over-par 77.
Brynn Walker (+11) earned two birdies in her second nine and scored a round of 7-over-par 79.
The University of Texas Longhorns (E) retained their lead and have a four stroke advantage headed into final round of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate.
The third and final round of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate will begin at 9:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday.
