Morra Wins ITA Regional Singles Crown

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Sophomore Cameron Morra won in straight sets on Monday morning to win the Main Draw Singles Championship at the ITA Carolina Regionals from Wake Forest University.

The top two seeds in the field met Monday with a title on the line between Carolina and Duke. No. 2 seed and 12th ranked Morra was able to get up early in the opening set over fifth ranked Kelly Chen and cruised to a 6-1, 6-4 victory.

The win marks Morra's second career ITA Regional title. Last season as a freshman, Morra and Makenna Jones won the doubles championship.

Morra joins a laundry list of Tar Heels that have won the singles crown in recent years, including teammate Sara Daavettila (2016, 2018), Hayley Carter (2015) and Carolina Price (2014).

Carolina hosts the Kitty Harrison Invitational this weekend, Fri.-Sun., at Cone Kenfield Tennis Center.
