Singles Sweep Sends #1 UNC Over Irish, 6-1

NOTRE DAME, Indiana - A sweep of all six singles matches allowed the No. 1 ranked North Carolina women's tennis team to pick up a 6-1 win on the road at Notre Dame on Friday afternoon from Eck Tennis Pavilion.
After dropping the doubles point for just the third time in 21 matches this spring, North Carolina (19-2, 8-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) began its singles onslaught with a win on court two from No 76 Alexa Graham in straight sets.
No. 14 Makenna Jones did the same on court one to pull the Tar Heels into the lead for the first time on Friday. No. 117 Chloe Ouellet-Pizer made it 3-1 and No. 27 Sara Daavettila clinched the win on court three.
Marika Akkerman and No. 71 Jessie Aney followed with three-set wins to make it a clean sweep for the visiting Tar Heels, who improve to 5-0 in away matches and 10-0 overall away from Chapel Hill.
Carolina visits Louisville on Sunday at 11 a.m.
