
National Girls and Women in Sports Day brought hundreds of youngsters to the UNC campus to learn about playing sports and being healthy.

AFTER CAROLINA
• Seymore Named Knight-Hennessy Scholar
Sasha Seymore, who was a member of the men's basketball team while at UNC, has been selected as a Knight-Hennessy Scholar, a new prestigious scholarship that fully funds graduate-level work in any field at Stanford University.
ACADEMICS
• Maye Earns Academic All-District Honor
Luke Maye, a junior on the men's basketball team, has earned Academic All-District honors and is a candidate for Academic All-America recognition.
• Reuland Rewarded with Wells Fargo Post-Graduate Scholarship
The $10,000 Wells Fargo Post-Graduate Scholarship was awarded to Frances Reuland, a senior on the women's soccer team who plans to earn a master's in public health.

• Swimming & Diving Teams Earn CSCAA Scholar-Athlete Awards
Both Tar Heel programs have been regulars on the CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams in recent years under DeSelm's tutelage. The women achieved a team grade point average of 3.30 in the fall semester of 2017 and the men's team earned a team GPA of 3.11 this past fall.

Fall 2017 All-ACC Academic Teams
The All-ACC Academic Teams for fall sports were announced this month. The award takes into account both academic and athletic achievement during the 2017 season.

• Men's Soccer
• Women's Soccer
• Volleyball

• Joanna Boyles (women's soccer) was named to the Scholar All-America third team, and she and Dorian Bailey earned Scholar All-South Region honors.

• Alex Comsia (men's soccer) was named to the Scholar All-America team.

CAROLINA OUTREACH

• Austin Proehl (football) was selected as a semifinalist for the Wooden Citizenship Cup. The former Tar Heel wide receiver is one of 25 semifinalists nationally chosen from nominees across all sports and levels of college athletics.

• The Tar Heels celebrated Girls and Women in Sports Day with an event that drew 900 participants, the largest crowd ever.
• Men's basketball hosted a clinic for Special Olympics athletes
