Tar Heels Remain in Tenth After Second Round of Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL - After two rounds of the Ruth Chris's Tar Heel Invitational, the Tar Heels are tied for tenth place, led by freshman Jennifer Zhou (E), who shot a 71 on Saturday afternoon at UNC Finley Golf Course.
Currently sitting tied for fifthteenth place, Zhou's second round score is a two-shot improvement of her first round 73, highlighted by birdies, including three on the back-nine. In addition to Zhou, the Tar Heels posted a second round team score of 296 (+10), which places them in a tie for tenth out of the eighteen teams. Freshman Nicole Lu (+3) carded the Tar Heels' second best round of the day, a 1-over-par 73, which featured a 1-under-par back-nine.
Kelly Whaley (+2) posted a 2-over-par 74, which included an even-par back-nine.
Brynn Walker (+12) saw a mixture of birdies and bogeys throughout her second round and finished at 6-over-par 78.
Individual Tar Heel competitors were once again led by Ava Bergner (+4), who improved upon her opening round of 75 by two-strokes. Her 1-over-par 73 featured two birdies and two bogeys.
The Duke Blue Devils lost two strokes over the course of round two, but remain in control of the lead at ()-under-par.
The third and final round of the Ruth Chris's Tar Heel Invitational will begin at 9:15 a.m. ET on Sunday.
